Szmul Zygielbojm (1895–1943) was a Polish-Jewish socialist politician and a prominent member of the Polish government-in-exile during World War II. When the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising is brutally crushed and its remaining Jews are murdered by Nazi forces, Szmul Zygielbojm commits suicide in a final, heartbreaking protest against the inaction of the Western Allies regarding the Holocaust.
