Vanessa Marquez (ER, Stand and Delivery, Malcolm and Eddie) was a vivacious, talented, and trailblazing Latino actress, as well as one with an outspoken and frequently complicated nature. In 2018, Vanessa was shot and killed in her own home by police officers who were supposedly called to conduct a wellness check. By virtue of the California Public Records Act, filmmaker Cyndy Fujikawa secured access to the raw police body-worn camera footage which tells a different story than what was released publicly.
